Supermodel Pooja Mor who showed China its true face
China’s shocking truth revealed during a prestigious awards ceremony. Let us know the story of this courageous supermodel who is an example for today’s young generation.
Pooja Mor grew up in Ahmedabad and took her first step in the modelling world after winning the “Clean and Clear Ahmedabad Times Fresh Face” event in 2012. After her foray into the Mumbai modelling world Pooja shifted to New York in 2016. She has modelled for luxury brands like Calvin Klein, Givenchy, Roberto Cavalli, Louis Vuitton and is considered one of India’s most successful models. Pooja received the “Model of the Year” award at the Vogue Beauty Awards 2016. In 2018, the fashion icon received “NEW WAVE: Creatives” award by the British Fashion Council. In 2019 she also gave a powerful talk at TEDx Talks on how adversity can be a good thing.
Pooja says that modelling profession is very challenging physically and mentally. To maintain her health and self-control, Pooja has been practicing Falun Dafa system of mind and body for the last four years. She says, “I keep morning time for Falun Dafa practice. This is the time when I can connect with myself – look inside myself. “
Talking about Falun Dafa, it is an ancient cultivation practice of mind and body which is based on the principles of truth-compassion-tolerance. It also includes five gentle and effective exercises that help purify one’s body, relieve stress and provide inner peace. For more information about this, see: www.falundafa.org or www.falundafaindia.org.
Falun Dafa is being practiced today by more than 100 million people in more than 114 countries worldwide. But the sad thing is that Falun Dafa is being suppressed in China, which is its birthplace.
At the Vogue Women of the Year 2019 Awards held in Mumbai on 19 October last year, Pooja was given the “Young Achiever of the Year” award among international and Bollywood celebrities. The award ceremony sparked sensation when Pooja, in her acceptance speech, spoke about the brutal persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in China.
Pooja said in her speech, “Falun Dafa is a meditation practice based on truth-compassion-tolerance, whose values have made me a better person. The Chinese Communist Party is persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners in China, they are imprisoned in torture camps and their organs are forcibly removed and sold illegally for organ transplantation.”
Pooja further said, “I can’t sit and watch millions of innocent people being wrongfully persecuted and their organs being taken without consent and without anaesthesia. I have to stand up for it—it’s my cause, and that is, to me, being a voice for the voiceless.” In the ceremony, people appreciated Pooja’s statement and her interviews were published in many magazines and newspapers.
While India maintains a policy of non-interference in China’s internal affairs, China does not refrain from raising the Kashmir issue in the UN Security Council on the instigation of Pakistan. China has been using issues like Masood Azhar support, Arunachal Pradesh, Doklam, etc. to pressure India. China can be exposed only by raising awareness about the brutal human rights crimes being perpetrated by the Chinese Communist Party on Tibetan Buddhists, Uighur Muslims and Falun Dafa practitioners. In this context, the above statement of Pooja Mor becomes significant.
While today’s Bollywood stars are busy promoting Chinese mobile phones and products ignoring countries interests, Pooja Mor’s courage surely deserves appreciation. Undoubtedly, Pooja is a role model for today’s young generation.
